First Look: Synopsis
First Look (16mm film & Betacam, 7 minutes, June 1998) Drawing from a subjective
experience of childbearing, First Look weaves the lush elements of nature around the graceful
power of one woman's struggle. Movement Theater, the power of the edit, and an elaborate
soundscape all work together in an impressionistic style to build an urgent yet gentle metaphor
for creation. In collaboration with Lorie Heald.
